JM Microsystem`s TIDAS S MSP-200 instrument was designed and developed especially to cater to the needs of the petrography and geochemistry community. The capability to perform fast and highly sensitive measurements in conjunction with the powerful software providing many useful and convenient features have endeared TIDAS S MSP-200 to the geology community in general; it thus found its recognition and place in laboratories all over the globe.
Depending on the chosen configuration of the instrument, measurements of reflection, fluorescence as well as polarization analysis on various samples can be performed. The TIDAS S MSP-200 works in accordance with the DIN/ISO standard in both the data acquisition procedure and the analysis mode.

This system is based on an optical microscope system for analyzing the reflectance and maceral properties/composition of raw coal for coke and the structure of metallurgical coke using polarized light. A photometer system that projects monochromatic light onto vitrinite in the raw coal structure and measures the degree of carbonation (reflectivity) of the raw coal using the intensity of the reflected light, and a polarizing microscope and image software for coke structure analysis are used to determine the grade and structure of the coal. This is a system to measure maceral and use it to evaluate raw coal and mix raw coal for coke production. In addition, it is a system that can analyze the texture, porosity, and porosity of not only coal tissue components, but also minerals (iron ore, sintered ore) and various metal materials using reflected light/polarization. The photometer (MSP 200) components are attached via optical fiber to appropriate Leica DM4 P microscope of Leica Microsystems. There's no change in the original construction of the microscope, so the full versatility is kept regarding the use of the original light sources, internal optics, objectives, contrasting methods, accessories etc. The system can control an optional motorized scanning stage for easy handling. For example point counting is much faster using this feature.
Vitrinite analysis according to international standards ASTM D2798-99 and ISO7404-5. This system is based on a PMT detector (PhotoMultiplierTube). This detector is very sensitive and can even detect signals at very low intensities. This is the system of choice if you only perform Vitrinite reflection measurements. For coal analysis a 546nm(±10 nm) interference filter is build inside the instrument . This filter can be changed easily for other applications. Accuracy: 97% Example) When measuring 100 points of a standard sample (1.240), the number of points outside the error range (1.238~1.242) must be within 3 points. 1.238~1.242) must be within 3 points.)
